Identifying a Geek

Thanks to contact lenses, many geeks are able to hide the fact that they stare at computer screens for hours at a time, looking at code. Without their most distinguising trait, detecting the presence of geek is a more subtle craft. Talking about any of these topics is a sure-fire way to identify a geek.

Geek Glossary

The following jargon is big in the geek community. These concepts become more important when discussing reasons to co-exist with geeks.

• Moodle is a dynamic learning environment. It is similar to Blackboard, or Web CT, but is much more powerful and usable. Moodle open-source and can be used for free with minimal server requirements.
• Blogs are online weblogs, similar to journals. While there are many types of blogs, they tend to be centered around technology.

• RSS feeds let an interested party know what has been updated on a website
• wiki is a very exciting collaborative tool. Wiki pages are webpages that can be edited using a simple web browser.
