Sticker Dictionary
The first and second grade students at Big Tree learned a lot of vocabulary words. Vocabulary building was generally conducted by words learned in categories. The students would learn many words for different type of fruits, or occupations, or things you'd find in your bedroom.
The Sticktionary was my idea for a project we could do by printing up stickers that are arranged alphabetically in the back. As children learn new words, they would find the sticker for the word, place it on the page, then draw a picture of the word. Given the difficulty Chinese language learners have with plurals, for each common noun there were spaces for practice using both the singular and plural form of the word.
